Planned updates to the Scrabble Points Calculator

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be adding a few new features to the Scrabble Points Calculator I launched last week.  Here are a few of the things I’ve got planned:-

  • Word verification – the tool will check against a dictionary and tell you if the word entered is valid
  • Ability to mark double/triple scoring letters
  • Double and triple word scores
  • Last ten words searched for (not sure about this one, just fancy a challenge)
  • The ability to press backspace to delete letters in the word typed
  • Pressing the escape key will clear the tiles
Is there anything else you can think of that might be useful?

Javascript Scrabble word points calculator

Over the past week or so I’ve been playing around with Javascript and CSS stuff and built a scrabble points calculator.  You can find it in the 2toria lab website here.

I’ve only built the very basics and there’s lots more stuff I want to do with the styling of the page, as well as adding additional functionality such as double and triple word/letter scoring to the mix, but I thought I’d share where I’ve got to so far because I’m quite excited at my first real online ‘app’ of sorts.

Any comments or ideas on how this could be developed further are welcome.  I’m aware there are a few bugs and these will be ironed out over the coming days.  I’ll keep you updated!  Also, keep an eye out for more things on lab.2toria.com as I invent them!!  It’s going to be fun, I think..
